Recap of Fullsteam’s vintage clothing and art show

Did you miss last night's Brewhaha at Fullsteam? If so, you missed a fantastic night of beautiful lingerie, gorgeous women and some fantastic art! You also missed out on a night of drinking Fullsteam's delicious craft beer! What were you thinking?!

Anyway, starting off the night was an art demonstration by Libby Lynn. She gave a demo about how to create encaustic wax art, which is just a bit harder than she makes it look! After her demo (where she made a lovely trace drawing of a portrait which she  filled in with wax) she then let the reigns loose and asked for volunteers! And guess what? I got to make some art! My friends Alice & Chais helped out and we all took turns at each of the different processes of creating encaustic wax art. (Hello blowtorch!) Granted, we ended up with something that is not representative of what it should look like, but if you want to see what encaustic wax art looks like by a professional, you should check out Libby's site!

Then at 7pm the vintage lingerie fashion show started. Candace Lacy put the show together, supplying many of the models with their vintage lingerie as well as selling various vintage articles like pantyhose, purses and slips at the show! The lingerie was beautiful on the rack, but once you see the lingerie with "a breath of life," as one of the models put it, the lingerie takes on a whole new aspect. What was pretty, but ordinary, becomes absolutely gorgeous. If you want to check out more vintage clothing options, make sure to visit Kitsch & Canoodle on Etsy. There's lots of awesome finds there.

Finally, there's the beer. The regular Fullsteam options were on tap, including their new flagship Fullsteam Carolina Common which is really good (but nothing beats their Sweet Potato Lager, imho) and I got the chance to taste their Hogwash hickory-smoked porter with a bit of Escazu salted dark chocolate. The combination of the dark chocolate really helps break the heavy smoke taste of the porter. But, since you seem to have missed out on all the fun, you can be sure that you'll be seeing a lot more interesting events over at Fullsteam in the future!
